An early morning crash in North Charleston snarled traffic for commuters on Interstate 26 on Friday.

The drive-time from Summerville to downtown Charleston was more than one hour and twenty minutes at one point, according to ABC News 4 On-Time traffic reporter Megan Rivers.

The Department of Transportation reports multiple lanes were closed due to a collision.

The crash happened one mile west of exit 211 at Aviation Avenue.

Drivers can use Rivers Avenue or Dorchester Road as alternate routes.
