Deputies respond to early morning break in and shooting near Crowfield Plantation

Berkeley County Sheriff's Office deputies respond to incident on Lyn Drive (WCIV)

Berkeley Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Lyn Drive in Ladson early Tuesday morning.

Deputies say the incident was regarding a home invasion with someone being shot.

According to deputies, the armed intruder gained access to the home and at some point, forced the homeowner to wake up out of his bed and open a safe inside the home.

Deputies say the intruder went on to remove the money and valuables from the home, but before he left the intruder shot the homeowner.

The homeowner was taken to Trident Hospital in North Charleston, fortunately the injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

Deputies say the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction and no description was given at the time.

The investigation is ongoing and active.
