Goose Creek High School is making special arrangements for school lunches Monday after a kitchen fire in the school's cafeteria.

The small fire near a frying unit briefly led Goose Creek High officials to evacuate the school building early Monday morning, Berkeley County School District spokesman Brian Troutman says.

The fire was contained quickly, and students and staff were outside the building for only a few minutes before firefighters allowed everyone back inside, Troutman says.

The school since has resumed its normal schedule; however, the kitchen is not in service Monday because of the fire. Lunches are being brought in from another school, Troutman says.

All Goose Creek students will be fed Monday at no charge, BCSD officials say. The school's kitchen is tentatively set to resume service Tuesday, Troutman says.
