The Charleston County coroner identified Dominique Renaldo Gilliard, 35, of Goose Creek as the driver who died following a fatal accident involving an 18-wheeler Friday morning.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.

Corporal Sonny Collins, with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, states the crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on I-26 Westbound near mile marker 207.

"An 18-wheeler and 2010 Honda 4-door were both traveling westbound around mile marker 207 when the Honda 4-door struck the rear of the 18-wheeler," Collins states.

Gilliard, who was driving the Honda, was not wearing a seatbelt, Collins said. Gilliard died at Trident Medical Center, according to the coroner.

No charges are expected to be filed.
