Groundbreaking for S.C. Ports Authority new headquarters
Mt. Pleasant, S.C. (WCIV) —
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday, September 25, at the site of the new South Carolina Ports Authority headquarters.
South Carolina Ports Authority sold its current office at 176 Concord Street to Lowe Enterprises back in January.
The new 84,000 square foot headquarters will be next to the Wando Welch Terminal. The headquarters will merge employees from the Concord Street and numerous other locations.
Officials say the new building is scheduled to open in December of 2018.
The annual State of the Port luncheon is also on Monday. It is hosted by the Propeller Club of Charleston and Ports Authority CEO Jim Newsome is the keynote speaker for the event.
