Hanahan man, 73, dead after Rivers Ave. auto-pedestrian wreck Wednesday

    Authorities say a man died Wednesday morning after being hit by a vehicle in North Charleston.

    Richard Morgan, Jr., 73, of Hanahan, was the pedestrian involved in the wreck, according to the coroner's office.

    The incident happened at 5:20 a.m. at the intersection of Rivers Avenue and Otranto Road.

    Morgan died as a result of injuries he suffered. Police have not yet revealed circumstances of how he was hit.

    The law enforcement response to the incident left Rivers Avenue blocked heading toward Goose Creek for nearly two hours.

    The North Charleston Police Department is the investigating the incident.
