High levels of bacteria found at 5 Charleston waterway sites
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) —
High-levels of fecal bacteria have been detected at 5 out of 14 sites monitored by the Charleston Waterkeeper.
Swimming is not recommended in the upper James Island Creek, the Wappoo Cut, the Ashley River by Brittlebank Park, the Harbor at Battery Beach, and upper Shem Creek.
The organization says its site on the Folly River continues to show low levels.
There are no available updates for the beaches, because the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has concluded its beach monitoring program.
