Suspect wanted for murder after shooting in Conway, victim identified

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) - Horry County Police say a person was shot and killed in the North Lake subdivision off Highway 319 in Conway Friday night.

Twenty-six-year-old Aarin Jamal "AJ" Michael is wanted for murder in connection to the shooting, according to police.

A preliminary investigation shows that Michael got into an altercation with the victim, now identified as 21- year-old Charles Hemingway.

Horry Co. Deputy Coroner Christ Dontell says Mr. Hemingway passed away at Conway Medical Center after being shot during the dispute. At some point during the altercation, police say evidence suggests Michaelfired a gun at the victim and then fled.

Police say Hemingway died shortly after arriving at the emergency room.

Michael is approximately 6’4” and 170 pounds. He has a teardrop tattoo under his right eye and other tattoos on his neck and body.
