Dorchester County not offering Irma storm debris pickup
With minimal debris from Irma, Dorchester County says it will not be collecting trees and limbs curbside and hauling them to county dump sites.
County officials say residents will have to haul off the debris themselves, or hire someone to do it, If a person needs help finding someone to haul away debris, the county says residents can call the United Way at 2-1-1.
This does not necessarily apply to people who live in the town of Summerville or city of North Charleston, the county says. People who live in those places should call their respective public works departments for information on curbside removal.
Yard debris disposal sites are open at the following locations 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday - Saturday, until further notice:
- Miles Jamison Site, 130 Suburban Lane, Summerville
- Sandy Pines Site, 374 Sandy Pines Road, Dorchester
The county says limbs should be no more than 10-12 inches in diameter and not more than 4-6 feet in length. Oversized limbs, tree trunks and stumps will not be accepted.
If you have questions, call the Dorchester County Public Works Department at (843) 832-0070.
