Is it yours? SC Treasurer has $550M in unclaimed property
No tricks here. South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis could have a sweet treat for you: money.
The State Treasurer's Office has more than $550 million in unclaimed property available to give back to South Carolina residents, businesses and organizations. Unclaimed property could be things like uncashed checks, forgotten utility deposits, unclaimed insurance proceeds and dormant bank accounts.
The Treasurer acts as a custodian of those funds until they're claimed by their rightful owner.
“No costume is necessary to receive this sweet treat,” said Treasurer Loftis. “It’s frighteningly easy to see if you or anyone you know is due unclaimed funds."
