Driver arrested for DUI after fatal crash kills passenger in Berkeley County

A 63-year-old man was killed over the weekend when a car he was riding in crashed near Jamestown in Berkeley County.

Terry Woods, of Georgetown, was a passenger Sunday in a Ford Mustang, when the vehicle left the pavement on French Santee Road shortly after 12:30 p.m., striking several trees, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

Woods was wearing a seatbelt, but died at the scene from significant injuries he suffered during the wreck, Salisbury says.

South Carolina Highway Patrol have arrested Alviuos Dean Adams, 51, of Georgetown in connection to wreck. SCHP says they charged Adams with a felony DUI resulting in death and booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.

The wreck happened about 11 miles east of Jamestown.

The accident was investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
