Man dies after boat collides with seawall on Cooper River, authorities investigating
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) —
Authorities are investigating after a man died and another was injured when their boat collided with a seawall on the Cooper River Friday night.
The Charleston Sector of the Coast Guard says it received a report at 11:31 p.m. that a 24-foot Moran Environmental work boat with two passengers hit the wall south of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center on Bainbridge Avenue in Charleston.
Edward Barnett, the boats operator, was reported dead by North Charleston Police. The second crew member was taken to MUSC with a leg injury.
The Charleston Sector of the Coast Guard, North Charleston Police, North Charleston Fire Department, and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources all responded to the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
