March For Our Lives sister march planned for downtown Charleston
The march in Washington has been organized by students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School after their school suffered a school shooting leaving 17 people dead and several others injured. The purpose of the march is to get politicians to take action on gun violence, organizers say.
According to a report by the Washington Post, organizers are expecting 500,000 attendees in Washington although a location hasn’t been determined yet.
The march in Charleston will be held in downtown Charleston but organizers have not yet determined where the march will begin and end, according to the GoFundMe page.
The GoFundMe has raised $905 out of the $5,000 goal to pay for “permits, logistical support and any other cost associated with managing the march” as of 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
Organizers with the sister march in Charleston say, “ If you want to help end gun violence directed at children in our school, please donate.”
