Mount Pleasant church collects gas cards in support of Coast Guard members
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) —
Point Hope United Methodist Church is accepting gas card donations through its “Gas Cards for furloughed gov. workers.
The church is collecting gas cards valued at $25 or $50 until further notice. It is apart of their "Coasties” fundraising efforts to support local Coast Guard members who are currently being affected by the government shutdown.
“After speaking with Master Sargent Chris Taylor, we have decided the greatest need is gas cards so these amazing service men and women can get to work,” said Pastor Elizabeth Sullivan of Point Hope UMC. “We are asking our members and neighbors to share about what we are doing and hope that we can be a blessing to those in our community.”
Cards can be dropped off at the church Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. or contact the church office by calling 843-971-6377 or emailing email@example.com.
Point Hope UMC is located at 3404 Turgot Lane in the Park West neighborhood of Mount Pleasant, SC.
