Mount Pleasant schools locked down because of social media threat

Mount Pleasant Police say several area schools were under "Code Yellow" administrative lockdown Tuesday for an unverified social media threat. The threat was made on Snapchat, per police.

Police said as of 10:20 a.m. the lockdowns were being lifted, as police did not feel there was an imminent threat. School resource officers will continue patrolling the schools throughout the day, police say.

The lockdown, which was put into place shortly before 9 a.m., included Thomas Cario Middle, Laurel Hill Primary, Pinckney Elementary, Laing Middle , Moultrie Middle, Carolina Park Elementary, Jennie Moore Elementary and Wando High.
