MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Barbara Burgess confirmed to ABC 15 that her daughter, LaTavia McGee, of Myrtle Beach, is alive and in a Texas hospital after being kidnapped last week in Mexico.

“She’s alive. I talked to her. I talked to her. The nurse at the hospital called and let me talk to her," said Burgess.

McGee along withShaeed Woodard, Eric Williams and Zindell Brownwere all missing since their violent abduction last week in the northern Mexican border city of Matamoros.

Williams was also found alive and had surgery for wounds he sustained in the kidnapping.He was shot twice in one leg and once in the other leg, the FBI said.

Officials confirmed Woodard and Brown were killed in the kidnapping.

All of the victims are native to Lake City, according to Lake City Mayor Yamekia Robinson.

Burgess said her daughter went through a living nightmare during the ordeal.

“She was crying. I asked her how she was doing. She doing okay. She was crying because her brother got killed and she watched him die. She watched two of them die. They died in front of her," said Burgess.

She added God answered her prayers. Burgess thanks the community for the support.

“I appreciated their prayers. I thank them for praying because that’s what I had needed. Prayer, it will change things. It works out. And prayer, you believe in it and it’ll work. It did it for me. Because I was praying for my daughter. And I know she was coming home. I knew it. I didn’t know when and what time. But, I knew she was coming," said Burgess.

A person has also been arrested in connection with the kidnapping, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said during his daily news conference Tuesday.

Matamoros is home to warring factions of the Gulf drug cartel.

The shootouts in Matamoros were so bad that the U.S. Consulate issued an alert about the danger Friday.
