Suspect in officer-involved shooting gets additional kidnapping, domestic violence charges

Middleton (Provided)

A man already in custody for three counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a firearm in an officer-involved shooting received new charges for domestic violence and kidnapping stemming from the March 2 incident.

Calvin Lorenzo Middleton, III, of St. Stephen, has been charged with domestic violence committed in the presence of a minor and kidnapping of a minor. The S.C. Law Enforcement Division filed the new charges Friday.

According to an arrest warrant, Middleton, committed domestic violence against his wife and then, while displaying two firearms, kidnapped a juvenile victim and carried her to multiple locations before both parties were located by law enforcement.

It was that incident that escalated into Lorenzo being pursued by police for domestic disturbance and then arrested for shooting at Berkeley County officers.
