Warming centers opening in North Charleston, Walterboro, and Summerville

Aldersgate United Methodist Church has announced it will open up a warming shelter on Sunday, January 20 and Monday, January 21.

The shelter at 1444 Remount Road will hold registration between 7 and 9 PM, unless previously arranged. it closes at 7 Am each morning.

Hot showers, warm clothes, toiletries, and safe overnight lodging will be provided.

Anyone in need of transportation should take CARTA bus route 13 and request the Aldersgate Winter Warming Shelter.

Pets are not allowed

St. Peter's AME Church on Wichman Street in Walterboro is also opening a warming shelter Sunday and Monday night.

Doors will be open from 7 to 9 PM, and guest are allowed to stay until 8 AM the following morning.

A hot meal will be served, and hygiene kits are available.

The Ridge Baptist Church at 2168 Ridge Church Road in Summerville is also opening a warming shelter on Monday from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

A warm meal and breakfast will be provided.
