Officials: Sinkhole on Mill Street in Mt. Pleasant
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) —
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department stated Friday evening that there is a sinkhole on Mill Street near the parking garage and the road will be closed until Saturday afternoon.
"Use Live Oak as an alternate route," the department states.
Nico Romo, chef and owner of Nico Oysters + Seafood at 201 Coleman Blvd., said the sink hole was impacting business on a Friday night.
"No one can get to Mill Street, police have to reroute everyone around it’s a big old mess," he said.
Romo said that the sinkhole is near where a pipe burst as crews were removing a concrete slab. Some lanes of Coleman Boulevard are currently under construction.
"It hurts business," Romo said.
Officials said there is no other immediate information.
