Police: Woman shot in leg in downtown Charleston

The City of Charleston Police Department is responding to a shooting in downtown Charleston at the intersection of Allway Street and Hagood Avenue, according to Charleston County dispatch.

An adult female was shot in her left calf. She was alert when transported to MUSC for treatment, according to Charles Francis with the City of Charleston Police Department. The shooting occurred around 10 p.m.

The injury doesn’t appear to be life threatening.

Detectives are on scene gathering information in reference to a suspect or suspects and a motive, Francis said.
