WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) — The Charleston Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle collision that left one person dead early Thursday morning, March 14.
Authorities say, the fatality took place Thursday morning, around 1:25 a.m. on SC Hwy. 171 (Folly Road) on the West Ashley side of the Wappoo Cut Bridge near Tranquil Drive.
According to CPD, a 2015 BMW sport utility vehicle was traveling north on Folly Road when it was struck by a 2008 Mercury sedan that crossed the center line.
Police say, the driver of the BMW sport utility vehicle was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mercury sedan was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina where he was pronounced dead.
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as Tony Woodall, 39, of Charleston.
