Red Cross: Two staying in local storm shelters died at hospital
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) —
UPDATE: The Red Cross released a correction saying only one person staying at a local shelter died after being taken to the hospital.
The American Red Cross has confirmed two people staying at local storm shelters died after being taken to the hospital.
The Red Cross says nurses were on duty the entire time shelters were occupied. Spokesperson Cuthbert Langley says he can not say where the victims were staying:
“The privacy of the residents staying in shelters is priority one. Because of that, we cannot confirm where the residents were staying.”
The Berkeley County Coroner's Office has confirmed that a man staying at the Goose Creek High School shelter died after suffering a cardiac arrest. The death is believed to be natural, and is being investigated.
