CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A new report shows South Carolina has the third most holiday thefts in the nation.

That's according to a report from Vivint Academy.

The report notes the Palmetto state had an average of 76.6 thefts per 10,000 residents during the holiday season.

No surprise, the month of December saw a 22% higher than average rate for larceny than all months combined.

The only two states beating out South Carolina are Washington and New Mexico.

New York had the lowest rate of larceny and burglary out of the 48 continental states followed by Vermont and Mississippi.
