S.C. correctional officers arrested for attempting to bring drugs to prisoners

Shavonia Glaze and Amanda Wells (Provided/Jasper County Detention Center)

The South Carolina Department of Corrections Police Services arrested correctional officers Shavonia Sharay Glaze and Amanda Nicole Wells on Wednesday on charges of attempting to bring contraband to prisoners.

Both worked at Ridgeland Correctional Institution in Ridgeland, S.C.

According to arrest warrants, Wells attempted to furnish a prisoner with LSD and synthetic cannabinoid.

Glaze had cocaine in her possession while at work.

Glaze has been charged with:

• Drugs/Possession of Cocaine, 1st SC Code Section 44-53-0370(d)(3)

• Prisoner/Contraband, furnishing or attempt to furnish prisoner, SC Code Section 24-03-0950

Wells has been charged with:

• Misconduct in office, SC Code Section 17-25-0030

• Prisoner/Contraband, furnishing or attempt to furnish prisoner, SC Code Section 24-03-0950

• Drugs/Manuf. Possession of other substance in Schedule I,II,III or flunitrazepam or with intent to distribute 1st, SC Code Section 44-53-0370(b)(2)

• Criminal Conspiracy, SC Code Section 16-17-0410

Both were booked in the Jasper County Detention Center and both have been released, according to authorities.
