COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — The South Carolina Board of Education suspended the teaching certificate of Robert Eugene Valbert after his arrest on two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
He was a teacher at Colleton County High School.
The district placed him on administrative leave following his arrest.

According to suspension documents, Valbert allegedly fondled the genitals of a young male under the pretense of performing a medical exam. The first alleged incident was in 2016 and another in 2018.
The district states it took necessary emergency action in suspending his license on Dec. 7.
“Mr. Valbert may pose a threat to the health, safety and welfare of students who may be under his instruction,” the board states.
