S.C. police asking for help in cold case of 19-year-old murder victim

Crime Stoppers is asking the public for help with a cold case involving the murder of 19-year-old Prince Polite, whose bullet-riddled body was found nearly a year ago in a wooded area along Wiggins Road in Beaufort.

Prince Polite was last seen alive with a male friend on May 14, 2017 at approximately 9 p.m. in Johns Island. It is believed that he may have frequented a nightclub in the Red Top area in West Ashley prior to his death. Law enforcement recovered his body on the morning of May 17, 2017.

Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry, SLED, and the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public for help in solving this cold case. The victim had ties to the Red Top, Green Pond, Charleston, Johns Island, West Ashley and Walterboro areas.

Anyone who knows something about the case can provide information anonymously. Tips could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the responsible party. Submit a tip in one of the following ways:

Police are asking the public to not confront or attempt to apprehend any fugitives or suspects.
