Charleston's School of the Arts was honored by the Jefferson Awards Foundation.

The high school's Students In Action (SIA) team received the "Most Outstanding Students In Action Team" award or the region.

They were also awarded a 2017 Gold Service Leadership School Award, a banner which will hang in the school all year.

"We are all ultimately tied to successes of our children; events like Students In Action remind us that we are in good hands. Charleston and Dorchester County high school students have showcased the leadership, initiative and energies needed to make our community a better place," said JAF Board Member Peter Tecklenburg.

Four other winners around the state included Greenville Technical Charter High, Spring Hill High School, Swansea High School, and Socastee High School.
