A Lowcountry man is asking for the community's help to get back a deeply sentimental item he says was stolen right out of his front yard.

Drew Schmidt, of Summerville, shared on his Facebook page Monday a photo of a fire hydrant custom painted to look like one of the famous "Minion" characters from the Despicable Me movie franchise.

Schmidt says the hydrant was a Christmas gift he got for his late daughter. It was displayed prominently on the porch of his Live Oak Drive home in Summerville, he says.

"When she passed away, it was like I could see her every time I came home, and she was still here. Just a little," Schmidt says in his Facebook post.

ABC News 4 is meeting with Schmidt to find out more about the stolen item. This story will be updated.
