Explosions heard at Berkeley County auto shop fire

Multiple fire crews were on the scene of a fire at Lakewood Auto Wednesday morning.

The auto shop is located behind a home on Gross Ave in Berkeley County.

The call came in at 6:01 a.m. on Wednesday.

Officials say petroleum and gas cans throughout the shop caused safety concerns and several explosions as firefighters fought the flames.

We're told flames went up 50 feet in the air.

It took firefighters nearly 45 minutes to put out the fire with at least six departments on the scene.

The flames also destroyed several cars.

The auto shop is still surveying the damage.

There are no reports of injuries.

This is a developing story.
