Summerville family of 6 forced out of home after fire on Central Avenue
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) - —
A family of six needs a new place to stay after flames did heavy damage to a home on Central Avenue in Summerville.
The Summerville Fire & Rescue Department received an alarm about the structure fire at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night, according to a Summerville spokesperson.
Flames were showing through the roof of the home when fire crews arrived.
It took thirty minutes to get the fire under control, officials say.
The damage is believed to be significant enough to make the home unlivable, Public Information Officer Mary Edwards said.
"The family of six are staying with friends and neighbors," Edwards said.
No injuries were reported.
Dorchester County Fire & Rescue, Dorchester County EMS and Summerville police responded to assist.
Officials say SCE&G secured power to the home.
The cause is under investigation.
