Teams remove truck from creek off Wando River

Emergency response teams are currently responding to a truck in a creek connecting to the Wando River in the area of Guerins Bridge Road and Winwood Farm Road in Awendaw.

Charleston County Rescue, Awendaw-McClellanville Consolidated Fire District and Charleston County EMS are responding. ABC News 4 has also learned law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene.

Officials with Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch say teams were dispatched at 6:25 a.m.

Awendaw-McClellanville Consolidated Fire District tweeted a photo at around 6:50 a.m. At that time it did not appear anyone was in the truck, but teams could not be certain, due to how the vehicle was positioned in the water, officials say.

Officials are unsure how the truck ended up in the creek or where the driver may have gone. The truck was empty when it was pulled from the water, and the driver was nowhere to be found.
