The Charleston RiverDogs will recognize Anthony Wright, "Tony the Peanut Man," on Saturday, June 17.

They will present the 2017 RiverDogs Humanitarian Award to the Charleston icon and ballpark vendor at The Joe, who passed away this past off-season.

Wright will be honored between innings as part of the Larry Doby Weekend festivities presented by MUSC Health.

The recognition of the beloved ballpark figure will be part of the night's featured events showcasing the coming together of the Charleston community.

The Humanitarian Award was created to recognize outstanding individuals who dedicate their time to fighting indifference, intolerance and social injustice to better the community.

As a season-long tribute to Wright, the RiverDogs toss out bags of Tony's famous boiled peanuts to the crowd during the seventh inning stretch for all 70 home games. In addition, a portion of all peanut sale proceeds throughout the course of the 2017 season go towards the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) of which Wright was a big supporter.
