Trident United Way awarding more than $20,000 in grants to nonprofits
Trident United Way has announced grants of more than $20,000 to local nonprofits. They say the six nonprofits missions align with the virtues of education, financial stability, and health. The Community Engagement grants will support activities set to begin in the next six months. They range from an emergency preparedness legal clinic, to an early literacy fair.
This is the second round of the latest Community Engagement awards. The first were awarded in 2017 and totaled just over $45,000. Applications for the next round of grants will begin in March. Those grants will be announced in July.
The Community Engagement Grant will ultimately award $150,000 to Tri-County area organizations over three years. Trident United Way says this represents one percent of the total investment money they have to benefit the community during the 2016-2019 funding cycle. To date, Trident United Way has completed four rounds of funding through Community Engagement Grants, investing more than $95,000 in 23 agencies for 27 different activities.
