Tropical Storm Watch issued for Georgetown & Horry Counties

The National Weather Service has issued a tropical storm watch for portions of the South Carolina and North Carolina coasts for the next 48 hours.

As of 5 p.m. Sunday, Georgetown and Horry County in South Carolina are currently under the tropical storm watch, along with several coastal North Carolina counties.

The watch is associated with a system of tropical weather currently centered off the coast of Georgia, and moving north-northeast up the coast.

The storm could drop several inches of rain, and produce sustained 25-35 mph winds, gusting up to 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Charleston County, meanwhile, is under a hazardous weather advisory as a result of the tropical system. Heavy rains and high winds are possible right along the Charleston County coast as the storm passes.
