Woman ID'd in deadly I-95 crash; search begins for missing dog who escaped the scene

Ashley Jane Blandon, 20, of Forest City, NC was killed when the vehicle she was driving went off the right side of the highway on I-95 by mile marker 79, struck a tree and then caught fire.

Blandon had a dog traveling with her which survived the crash. It was located briefly by officials at the scene, but the dog escaped.

The dog’s name is Darla and has an Identification collar.

If anyone sees the dog, they are asked to contact the Dorchester County Animal Control at 843-873-5111 or 843-563-5111.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office are investigating the crash.
