Bomb squad finds nothing dangerous during Moncks Corner suspicious item investigation
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) —
A bomb squad response Wednesday for suspicious items outside the Berkeley County Health Center offices in Moncks Corner turned up no dangerous or hazardous materials.
Capt. Mark Fields with the Moncks Corner Police Department says officers were called to 109 W. Main Street Wednesday morning when employees reported suspicious items in the parking lot.
Fields says the items were jar-like containers which appeared to be purposely positioned around the Veterans War Memorial in the front parking lot of the building.
Police evacuated the building as a precaution, and called in the Charleston County Bomb Squad to assist with an investigation.
The bomb squad remotely opened examined the containers, and found nothing dangerous inside them, Fields says. No one was injured and no property was damaged.
Fields say Moncks Corner Police Department will be increasing patrols in the area to monitor the property.
