S.C. Women's March for Justice - Charleston (WCIV)

Hundreds of women and activists have gathered at Brittlebank Park in Charleston for the Lowcountry's participation in the national Women's March.

South Carolina's chapter of the Women's March says it's commemorating the first anniversary of the historic Women's March on Washington by holding a rally for "electoral justice."

"We are calling for Electoral Justice," the group said in press release. "We are advocating for stronger voter protections via equitable and just voting rights. We are calling for the removal of structural and financial barriers that impede women, women of color and all members of marginalized communities from running for office. We are calling for power to the polls and an end to voter suppression. We are calling for governing bodies be more reflective of the people they serve. It is our goal to truly democratize the electoral process and to achieve justice for all of us."
