Ashley Ridge withstands late rally for 20-17 win over Goose Creek | Friday Night Rivals

Ashley Ridge saw a two touchdown fourth quarter lead disappear Friday against Goose Creek, but banked on a late field goal to secure a 20-17 road win in our Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week.

Alex Lazik's laser-accurate leg was the difference for the Swamp Foxes, booting a game winning 34-yard field goal with 1:37 to play after the Gators had rallied from a 17-3 deficit to tie the game in the fourth.

Lazik also made a 37-yard field goal in the second quarter, which tied the game at 3-3 at the time. Ashley Ridge went on to take a 17-3 halftime lead thanks to a 22-yard Nick Cunningham TD run, and a 38-yard TD pass from Matt Duncan to Troy Chavis following four consecutive interceptions --- two each by the Gators and Swamp Foxes.

After a scoreless third quarter, Goose Creek roared back into contention on a 3-yard TD run by Dante Smith on the first play of the fourth quarter, followed later by a 20-yard TD pass from Dijon Singleton to LJ Stanley to knot the score at 17-all.

Blake Ellington had a 25-yard field goal in the first quarter to give the Gators an early 3-0 lead.
