Beer to be sold at Johnson Hagood Stadium
Saturday football games at The Citadel's Johnson Hagood Stadium will be different for many fans.
The board of visitors at the military college voted Tuesday to immediately begin selling alcohol.
Unfortunately for cadets, beer will not be available. For all other fans at games, 12-ounce beverages can be purchased.
"At Football games it will be for fans, all that are 21 years of age," said Citadel athletic director Jim Senter. "It will not be sold throughout the entire stadium, just a confined space in our beer garden area."
Beer will be available in a special, tented area, equipped with televisions and space large enough to accommodate 500 people.
"It is about trying to get it right and deliver a fan experience that people would enjoy going to," Senter said.
Visitors to the Bulldog Beer Garden will be provided a 3-tab wristband, good for three drinks.
