Katy Solt joined the ABC News 4 team in January 2022, and is excited to call the Lowcountry home.
A Charlotte native, Katy has always been a Carolina girl. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Theatre. She found her love of journalism watching her neighbor anchor the evening news in Charlotte, and knew she wanted to have the same impact on her community.
Katy began her career in 2014 at WFXG in Augusta, GA where she covered The Masters Tournament and historic snow event of 2014. She then moved to WSPA in Spartanburg, SC where she covered several national stories, including the Party Rock Wildfires and the case of serial killer Todd Kohlhepp. She then returned home to Charlotte, NC to work for Spectrum News 1 as a fill-in anchor and reporter. She helped cover several national stories including snow storms, hurricanes, and the school shootings at UNC Charlotte and Butler High School.
When she isn’t working, Katy loves exploring the Lowcountry with friends, reading a good book, or watching sports (Go Panthers, Gamecocks, and Steelers!)
