Sydaija Smalls


Sydaija Smalls is a Charleston native; she grew up in Goose Creek, South Carolina, and is a recent Summa Cum Laude graduate of The Illustrious South Carolina State University.

Sydaija’s passion for journalism began in her sophomore year of high school. She was an active member of the Media Technology team and received many awards for her videography abilities and grades. The experience landed her a position at her first school, Trident Technical College, as an anchor for "Ten Live". After graduating from TTC, She transferred to SC State to further her education and experience in Communications, she became a lead anchor and reporter for the University's news show, Bulldog News Now. "BNN" prepared Sydaija to work alongside other HBCU Journalists across the nation in a summer media internship with META, she also was chosen to work with The White House Press for Madam VP Kamala Harris when she visited her University. Sydaija interned with WCIV | News 4 as a fall intern right before she became an MMJ.

In Sydaija's free time, you can find her trying new restaurants in the area or watching the sunset along South Carolina's beaches. Sydaija is excited to be back home with the News 4 team and to continue growing as a journalist!
